Teacher Assessment Outcomes KS1 2018

At Buryfields we have high expectations of the children but also approach their learning on an individual basis - no cohort of children are ever the same!  Whilst we use the standardised maths and reading tests in accordance with the requirements set by the Department for Education to help inform our assessments, the final judgement is done by 'teacher assessment', i.e. the teacher uses all of the information they know about each child and the work that they have done throughout Year 2 to assess whether they are below, at or exceeding age related expectations.  We are absolutely stringent in our assessments and moderate with other schools to ensure that our assessments are fair and accurate.

We are very proud that the number of children at a Greater Depth Standard (GDS) is so much higher than national, but our main focus now is ensuring that we are ensuring more children are reaching the Expected Standard (EXS), especially in writing and maths; this has informed our strategic plan for the current year.

Below are our results for the children leaving KS1 at the end of July 2018.
