Welcome to Beech Class

We are a happy and friendly Year 1 class. Our teachers are Mrs Brice, Mrs Thomas and Mrs Allen. Our learning support assistants are Mrs Bradley and Mrs Goldsworthy.

Down by the pond.

As part of our science work this year we are studying the pond area. We went out to have a look at the beginning of September to see what would live in a pond habitat. It was quite overgrown so we did not find much life in the pond. Now it has been cleared we have found plenty of insects and some newts have even been spotted!

Fruit kebabs

Autumn is the time when we think about harvest and the fruit and vegetables that grow. We wanted to design and make our own fruit kebabs so first we had to taste some fruit to see what we liked best. Then we designed our own kebabs and had great fun making them. But the best bit of all was eating them!

Budding gymnasts!

As part of our PE work we are exploring different shapes in gymnastics. We are experts at making the five basic shapes in lots of different positions. Once we had mastered the shapes we worked with a partner to make the shapes together and even created a sequence to show the rest of the class.

What a busy half term!

We have settled really well into life in Year 1 and have been busy doing so many different things. We have been programming the Beebots in ICT, exploring our lovely grounds as part of Trailblazers, using lots of resources to help us with our maths and many other exciting activities. Have a look at the photos to see what we have been up to!
