First half term!
Where has the first half term gone? We have enjoyed getting to know all of our new friends in Apple Class and the other EYFS classes, as well as exploring our school and grounds. We went on a tour around the school with Mrs Mepham and took part in a photo hunt around the school grounds to see what we could find. We now know where everything is in and outside of school. We loved visiting the sensory garden and pond area and have decided that we will visit again later in the year to see what has changed in and around the pond. We've had lots of fun in our outside area recently, collecting all the leaves and seeing how many wheelbarrows we can fill up with them!
Phonics and Number work
We have learnt lots of new sounds this half term and are really proud of how many we can remember (with all the songs and actions, of course!) We have had lots of fun thinking of things beginning with our new sounds and practising writing our letters. We've also been practising our counting and number recognition up to 10 and have been really keen to show off our number skills in different ways during our activity time.
We have loved learning all about Harvest and taking part in our own Harvest assembly. We sorted lots of fruits and vegetables and used them to do some printing pictures. We practised our cutting skills and cut out lots of different coloured shapes to make our own tractors. We also read the story of the Little Red Hen and carefully painted a picture of her. We made 3D windmills from the story and saw how bread is made. We really enjoyed having a go at making our own bread and kneading the dough for our bread rolls! We learnt to tell the story of the Little Red Hen for our assembly, as well as lots of Harvest songs to perform to our families. We also walked down to the church with all of our Harvest gifts that we had kindly donated.
